The Ultima X Gas Monitor series is based on the industry-leading Ultima Gas Monitor, these state-of-the-art detectors feature the latest mechanical and electrical technologies and are designed for exceptional performance in virtually any gas detection application.

MSA Ultima XA and XE Monitors provide continuous monitoring of combustible and toxic gases and oxygen deficiency, using catalytic, electrochemical and infrared detection technologies.

Ultima XA Monitors have all-purpose plastic enclosures designed for NEMA 4X rating, and are ideal for gas detection in the pulp and paper industry and in general industrial applications. With a 316 stainless steel enclosure, the Ultima XE Monitor offers explosion-proof monitoring in the petrochemical and oil and gas industries.

Advanced features of the Ultima X Gas Monitor series include:

• Disconnect under power allows sensors to be changed in an explosion-proof housing without the need for hazardous area declassification.

   

• Interchangeable smart sensors are extremely easy to install and replace. New sensors are recognized, triggering automatic alarm and relay setting reconfiguration.

   

• State-of-the-art display conveniently alternates between sensor reading and gas type, and features scrolling diagnostic messaging.

   

• World-class design features one electronics board for maximum reliability and serviceability. Multiple-entry mounting enclosure enables problem-free installation and servicing.

   

• Onboard LEDs and relays provide increased indication of alarm and fault conditions. “Quick-check” LEDs are easily viewable from afar, and field-programmable alarm levels and normally energized/de-energized and latching/non-latching relay functions offer three levels of alarm and a fault.

   

• The XIR Combustible/LEL monitor also offers many unique features:

o        Extremely fast speed of response (T90 < 2secs)

o        No-gas calibration - a zero adjustment is all that is required for a full calibration

o        Field-selectable algorithms for a variety of hydrocarbon-based gases

o        Designed without a sintered disk for optimum performance in harsh environments

o        Immune to poisoning

With the large LCD display, optional “Quick-Check” LEDs and four relay outputs these units can operate on a stand-alone basis or they can be connected to a control system (e.g., PLC, DCS) via a standard 4-20 mA output.
